SEAN, BÖHM — The Missing Link EP

Sean & Böhm – The Missing Link EP arrives on Partout as catalogue PARTOUT0.04, an exclusive vinyl-only 12-inch that channels the deep-house and minimal-house lineage of Chicago and Detroit while slipping in a subtle New York edge. The Swedish-Dutch duo frames four tracks that oscillate between shadowy synth-driven moods and brighter organ-laden sections, offering a fresh take on the classic house groove. Within Partout’s current output, The Missing Link EP sits among releases such as Difool’s Mosher EP (PARTOUT1.03) and Diego Infanzon’s Discotheque EP (PARTOUT9.03), sharing the label’s penchant for forward-thinking dancefloor music that respects its roots. While the exact chronology is unclear, the EP contributes to Partout’s 2025-2026 wave of releases that blend house heritage with contemporary production. Side A opens with “The Missing Link”, a track that leans into a deep, shadowy atmosphere, setting a contemplative tone that prepares the listener for the next cut. “Collusion” follows, lifting the mood with brighter organ textures that contrast the opener yet retain the underlying groove, providing a natural progression for a DJ moving from darker to more uplifting moments. On the flip side, “Time” continues the deep-house vibe, offering a hypnotic repetition that works well for late-night sets where subtle evolution is prized. “Fifth-N Groove” closes the EP with an uplifting, groove-centric feel that nods to classic house organ lines, delivering a satisfying resolution that can serve as a peak-time transition. For Böhm, the release sits alongside a string of recent vinyl outings—including “Infinity is Over” on Sakskøbing (SKKB029) and “ETHEREAL” on MOS RECORDINGS (MOS035)—showcasing a continued exploration of deep and minimal textures. The collaboration with Sean adds a new dimension to Böhm’s catalogue, merging the duo’s individual sensibilities into a cohesive statement that feels both referential and forward-looking. In the context of contemporary underground electronic music, The Missing Link EP exemplifies how producers can honour the raw grooves of house’s origins while injecting fresh tonalities. Its balance of moody depth and brighter sections makes it a versatile addition to any set, appealing to DJs who favour tracks that can both anchor a deep-house groove and elevate the energy when needed. From a collector’s perspective, the exclusive vinyl format reinforces the tactile experience prized by house aficionados. The 12-inch press offers ample space for the nuanced dynamics of each track, ensuring that the subtle shifts between shadowy synths and organ-driven lifts are preserved in analog fidelity.
