RUFFIANI — Ruffiani 002 EP

Ruffiani – RUFFIANI 002 EP arrives on Ruffiani (catalogue RFN002) as a 12-inch vinyl that stakes a claim in the overlapping realms of disco, tech-house and edit-driven club cuts. Four fresh tracks built from sampled fragments and reworked edits converge in a raw, contemporary dancefloor setting, continuing the label’s underground, DJ-centric vision. Within the Ruffiani catalogue, this EP follows the earlier RFN001 release, RUFFIANI 001 EP, which set the tone for the label’s focus on stripped-back, sample-laden grooves. The continuity between the two records underscores a developing aesthetic that favours concise, rhythm-rich statements over extended arrangements. Side A opens with “Classicone”, a track that leans into the label’s disco-tech house hybrid, delivering a driving pulse that feels instantly ready for the floor. It is followed by “This Jam Is Fresh”, which picks up the momentum with a slightly brighter edge, maintaining the rhythmic intensity while introducing a subtle shift in mood that keeps the set moving forward. On the flip side, “Ruffiani For President” deepens the groove, offering a darker, more hypnotic vibe that contrasts with the upbeat feel of the A-side. The record closes with “Save The Elephants”, a final cut that blends the earlier energy with a more spacious, atmospheric finish, providing DJs with a versatile endpoint for a set. In the context of Ruffiani’s brief but focused output, the EP reinforces the label’s commitment to delivering concise, club-ready material that draws from a palette of sampled and edited sources. The four tracks together illustrate a cohesive yet varied approach to modern underground dance music, aligning with current trends that value both nostalgic references and forward-looking production. For DJs, the record offers immediate utility: the tight structures and clear rhythmic foundations make each cut easy to mix, while the differing tonalities across the sides allow for dynamic set construction. Collectors will appreciate the limited-edition white-label presentation, which signals the release’s underground intent and positions it as a noteworthy addition to any vinyl-focused dance music library. The release is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, presented in a stark white-label format that underscores its limited-edition status and the label’s aesthetic of minimal, club-oriented packaging.
