GLENN DAVIS — Mixed Emotions

Glenn Davis – Mixed Emotions appears on Forma Music as FORMA002, a 12-inch vinyl that lands squarely in the deep house territory. The co-founder of the label delivers a fresh original production that, according to the label, “does real damage on the dancefloor,” and follows it with a remix that injects Caribbean rhythms into the mix. Within the Forma catalogue, Mixed Emotions follows the earlier Forma EP (FORMA001, 2025) and continues the label’s focus on melodic, club-ready deep house. The release sits alongside a roster of tracks that have earned DJ support from names such as Jimpster, Craig Smith and Fish Go Deep, reinforcing Forma’s reputation for dancefloor-oriented releases. Side A opens with “Mixed Emotions”. Davis builds a deep, driving baseline that underpins jazzy chords and synth stabs, creating a hypnotic groove that feels like a house nirvana. The track’s atmospheric depth and melodic focus make it a solid anchor for a set, offering a smooth yet compelling entry point for the floor. Flipping the record, side B presents “Mixed Emotions – Trinidiandeep remix”. Trinidadian Deep re-imagines the original by layering live percussion, vocal snippets, organ textures and a weighty sub-bass, all of which amplify the Caribbean flavour hinted at in the original’s rhythm. The remix feels like a sun-lit extension of the deep house foundation, delivering a richer, dancefloor-focused energy that works well as a peak-time boost. Glenn Davis has been prolific on vinyl this year, with The Journey EP (SEL018, Selections, 2026) and earlier outings on Mate (MATE020, 2025) and his own Forma EP (FORMA001, 2025). Mixed Emotions adds another chapter to a discography that consistently blends deep house sensibilities with melodic nuance, reinforcing his Dublin-based production identity. In the current underground scene, the record offers a dual perspective: the original’s polished deep house groove and the remix’s Caribbean-infused dynamism. Both sides provide DJs with flexible tools – the A-side for warm-up or late-night moods, the B-side for a more kinetic, percussive lift. Collectors will appreciate the clear articulation of two distinct yet complementary visions on a single 12-inch. The release is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, matching the format of Davis’s recent EPs and the label’s previous output. Its straightforward presentation lets the music speak without the distraction of gimmicky packaging. Glenn Davis – Mixed Emotions, Forma Music, catalogue FORMA002, 12-inch vinyl, two tracks.
