WHODAMANNY — Obsesión / Corazón Caliente

Whodamanny – Obsesión / Corazón Caliente opens the Biloba BLB1156 12-inch vinyl with a clear sense of purpose: a double single that pushes the label’s post-summer energy forward. The record lands squarely in the italo-house and pop-house corridor, marrying melodic drive with a dancefloor-ready sheen that feels both nostalgic and freshly urgent. Biloba’s recent output has been anchored by Whodamanny’s own VOLVERAN EP (BLB103, 2024), which established a template of bright synth lines and emotive hooks. Obsesión / Corazón Caliente arrives as the next statement in that line, expanding the label’s palette while retaining the melodic sensibility that has become its hallmark. Side A begins with “Obsesión”, a track that the label describes as channeling a deep-rooted Southern intensity. The piece captures the ache of an obsessive love, framing the fixation not as a flaw but as a vital, positive drive that fuels endless devotion. Its momentum feels deliberately high-energy, making it a natural opener for a set that wants to build tension quickly. The second A-side, “Corazón Caliente”, turns up the heat with a raw, sweat-soaked proto-house rhythm. Heavy workstation brass stacks give the track a bold, almost incendiary character, positioning it as a peak-time mover that can ignite a crowd’s response. The B-side offers two DJ-ready reinterpretations. “Dub Pasión” strips the original elements back into a dub-focused version, emphasizing space and groove for seamless mixing. Its treatment invites DJs to layer it under other tracks, extending the emotional thread of the A-side while providing a more minimal canvas. Closing the record, “Sueño De Verano” presents an instrumental take that retains the summer-dream vibe of the release. Without vocal hooks, it becomes a versatile tool for DJs seeking a melodic backdrop that can be woven into longer mixes or used as a transitional bridge. Within Whodamanny’s recent discography, this release follows a productive year that also saw the CAMOMILLA AND DEBBY / WHODAMANNY REWORKS EP on Mondo Groove (MGMS23, 2026) and the Onda Biloba 12-inch on Periodica (PRD1028, 2026). Those outings highlighted the producer’s knack for reworking existing material and exploring different label aesthetics. Obsesión / Corazón Caliente consolidates that exploratory impulse, delivering original material that feels both a continuation and an expansion of the artist’s evolving sound. For DJs, the record offers immediate utility: the A-side tracks are built for peak-time impact, while the B-side dub and instrumental versions provide the flexibility needed for deeper, more nuanced set construction. Collectors will appreciate the clear articulation of the label’s aesthetic and the way the release sits between earlier Biloba statements and Whodamanny’s broader output across multiple imprints. The release arrives as a 12-inch vinyl, matching the format of the artist’s recent offerings and the label’s preference for tangible, DJ-friendly media. Its four tracks deliver a concise yet potent listening experience, making the record a focused addition to any house-oriented crate.
