VARIOUS — The Dark Side Of Italo Disco 4 LP

Various – The Dark Side Of Italo Disco 4 LP presents Zyx Music’s catalogue ZYX54099-1 as a 12-inch vinyl exploration of the shadowy side of 80s Italo-disco. The compilation gathers eight tracks that blend melancholy synth lines, driving beats and a futuristic ambience, offering a distinct mood that sits between classic disco, Italo house and pop-house sensibilities. Within Zyx Music’s 2026 output this release arrives alongside several other compilations and artist projects. On the same day the label issued The Italo Disco Collection Vol. 4 (ZYXBOX105) and Gigi D‘Agostino Maxi Single Box Vol. 2 (ZYXBOX110), while earlier in the year it delivered Argentina’s Best Of LP (ZYX23065-1) and Fancy’s Slice Me Nice LP (MAXI1211-12). The Dark Side Of Italo Disco 4 therefore occupies a parallel slot in a busy schedule that emphasizes the label’s focus on retro-oriented dance music. Side A opens with “THE CREATURES – EXPANSION”, a track that immediately sets a mysterious tone through its synth-driven melody and propulsive rhythm. “FLEMMING DALUM – SOLAR ECLIPSE (Special ZYX Version)” follows, extending the nocturnal vibe with a deeper groove that bridges the opening piece and the next cut. “MITO – DROID (87 Remix)” continues the journey, offering a slightly more futuristic edge while retaining the overall melancholic atmosphere. “HYPNOTIC SAMBA – STOP-WATCH” introduces a tighter, more percussive feel that adds contrast without breaking the set’s cohesion. The side concludes with “RA – SPACE MELODY (Flemming Dalum Vox Remix)”, a track that layers a vocal element over the prevailing synth texture, and “P.L. – I DON‘T KNOW WHAT IT IS (12“ Version)”, which reinforces the compilation’s hypnotic pulse before the final two B-side selections. Side B opens with “MONUMENTS – OBLIVION”, a piece that deepens the dark ambience with a slower, more immersive groove. The record closes with “HIPNOSIS – WINDLAND”, a track that lifts the mood slightly while maintaining the overall atmospheric consistency, providing a fitting end to the eight-track voyage. The Dark Side Of Italo Disco 4 adds a curated slice of the Italo-disco canon to the label’s 2026 catalogue, complementing earlier releases that highlight the same era’s melodic and rhythmic richness. By focusing on tracks that emphasize mood and texture, the compilation offers a fresh perspective on a sound that continues to influence contemporary underground producers. For DJs, the record supplies a set of deep-cut selections that work well in late-night or back-to-back moments, where the blend of melancholic synths and steady beats can sustain a hypnotic flow on the dancefloor. Collectors will appreciate the cohesive selection of rare 80s cuts, each contributing to the compilation’s overarching sense of intrigue and nostalgia. The release is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, matching the format of the label’s other 2026 offerings and ensuring a warm analog playback that suits the record’s atmospheric intent.
