About Release
Various – SHDW presents Federation Of Rytm IV (LP) arrives on Mutual Rytm as catalogue MR-039RP, a 4×12-inch vinyl that maps three decades of techno through a 30-track digital set and a 24-track wax edition. Curated by SHDW, the collection balances label regulars and newcomers, stitching together driving grooves, relentless percussion and moments of atmospheric introspection that echo the label’s night-time journey from intimate clubs to festival stages.
Within Mutual Rytm’s 2026 output, this release sits alongside the later MRX-008 “Not So Punk 10″ by Backbone and follows earlier statements such as The Southern’s “Ultrasound” (MRS-004 NOCOVER), Kameliia & Blanka’s “Versus 003” (MRV003) and Dextro’s “Planets and Stars” (MR-046). The “Federation Of Rytm” series has become a reference point for the label, and the fourth edition reinforces that role by presenting a curated snapshot of the label’s evolving sound palette.
Side A opens with “X&B – Strobocop”, a track that sets a kinetic tone which is amplified by “Yanamaste – Hunter” and “Temudo – Cohorus”, each extending the momentum while hinting at the deeper, more hypnotic passages to follow. The B-side continues the forward drive with “Ignez – Rudimental” and “Dextro – Buck Rogers”, before “Flug – In Control” introduces a subtle shift toward the label’s signature atmospheric textures.
On side C, “Klint – Quad” and “DJ Plant Texture – Reesolution” maintain the pulsating low-end power, while “Petter B – Replicated” adds a touch of eerie minimalism that prepares the listener for the darker terrain of side D. “BACKBONE – From 0”, “Mathys Lenne – Mutant” and “Norbak – Americana” weave together dub-laden moments and introspective pauses, creating a narrative arc that balances intensity with release.
Side E brings “Ribe & Roll Dann – El Transito” and “Red Rooms – Debris” into a more spacious, cavernous realm, with “Sciahri – Pushing” pushing the energy forward toward the final half of the record. The F-side’s “Kameliia – Parallel Realities”, “Jancen – Sensation” and “AgainstMe – OB Dub” deepen the hypnotic immersion, each track echoing the previous while expanding the atmospheric palette.
The concluding three sides close the journey. “Blenk – Shader”, “Marcal – Intertwined” and “Hyden – Reverie” on side G blend futuristic bursts with lingering darkness, leading into “BLANKA – I Choose You”, “Developer – Have It All” and “Claudio PRC – Torque” on side H, which resolve the set with a blend of tension-filled kick drums and light-filled release, mirroring the ebb and flow of a night’s climax.
For DJs, the record offers a toolbox of club-ready cuts and deeper, mood-setting pieces. The early tracks provide immediate floor impact, while the mid-record selections lend themselves to longer, progressive builds. The latter side’s more atmospheric pieces are suited for peak-time transitions or late-night introspection, making the release adaptable across varied set structures.
The 4×12-inch format gives each side ample space to develop its themes without the constraints of a single-disc EP. The pressing follows Mutual Rytm’s established aesthetic, presenting the music in a format that respects the label’s commitment to sequencing and sonic continuity.
