MR. FLAGIO — Take A Chance

Mr. Flagio – TAKE A CHANCE opens the Discoring Records DR-004 12-inch vinyl with a clear nod to the golden era of Italo-Disco. The record revisits one of the genre’s most enduring anthems, presenting both the original mix and an instrumental version before turning to contemporary reinterpretations by Italoconnection. On black vinyl, the release situates itself within Discoring’s eclectic output, alongside Ivan’s “Fotonovela” (DR-015) and the label’s earlier “Take A Chance” (DR-002Y), both listed without a precise release date. Side A begins with “Original”, a faithful rendition of the classic Italo-Disco track that defined Mr. Flagio’s early reputation. Its driving four-on-the-floor pulse and melodic hooks recall the bright synth-laden sound that still fuels dancefloors. The follow-up “Instrumental” strips back the vocal layer, allowing the underlying groove to breathe, making it an ideal bridge for DJs seeking a seamless transition or a moment of pure rhythm. Side B shifts focus to the Italoconnection re-interpretations. The “Italoconnection Re-Edit” re-imagines the anthem with a slightly extended structure, preserving the core melodic motif while offering a fresh arrangement that suits both peak-time and late-night sets. The “Italoconnection Rework” pushes the concept further, introducing new phrasing and a modern production sheen that updates the vintage vibe without losing its original charm. Within Mr. Flagio’s modest discography, this release stands out as a revisitation of a signature track, pairing the timeless original with contemporary re-edits that demonstrate the enduring relevance of Italo-Disco aesthetics. For Discoring Records, DR-004 adds a touch of nostalgia to a catalogue that already spans diverse electronic styles, as evidenced by the label’s other offerings such as “Fotonovela” and the earlier “Take A Chance”. For DJs, the record offers a versatile toolkit: the original mix delivers instant recognisability for crowd-pleasing moments, the instrumental provides a clean canvas for layering, while the Italoconnection cuts give fresh angles for remix-style sets. Collectors will appreciate the black-vinyl presentation and the inclusion of both historic and newly crafted versions in a single, well-sequenced package. The release is pressed on 12-inch black vinyl, matching the format expectations of disco- and house-oriented collectors who value tactile, analog listening experiences.
