DIGITALISM — Idealism Forever LP (+ Bonus Tracks)

Digitalism – Idealism Forever LP (+ Bonus Tracks) arrives on Magnetism Recording Company as catalogue MRCLP005, a 2×12-inch vinyl set that revisits the duo’s seminal 2007 debut. The reissue preserves the original analogue master while incorporating every bonus cut from the sold-out 2024 limited 3-LP edition, offering a comprehensive listening experience that bridges the album’s historic impact with its enduring relevance in electronica. Within Magnetism’s 2026 output, Idealism Forever follows the Optimism LP (MRCLP004) and shares its release date with I Love You, Dude LP (MRCLP006LTD). The label’s recent focus on Digitalism underscores a productive period for the act, with the three releases collectively mapping a trajectory from the early-2000s sound to current explorations. Side A opens with “Magnets”, a concise opener that sets a kinetic tone before handing over to the original “Zdarlight”. The latter retains its club-ready momentum, leading into the brief yet hook-laden “I Want I Want” and the melodic “Idealistic”, which together outline the album’s blend of driving rhythms and melodic synth work. “Digitalism In Cairo / Departure From Cairo” on B1 extends the set with a longer, evolving structure, while “Echoes” and “The Pulse” maintain the record’s propulsive energy before “Moonlight” offers a moment of reflective calm. The second disc continues the narrative. “Anything New” reintroduces the listener to the duo’s signature groove, followed by “Pogo”, which sustains the forward motion. “Jupiter Approach / Jupiter Room” expands the palette with a six-minute journey, and “Home Zone” and “Apollo-Gize” close the main album side with concise, punchy statements. The bonus tracks on side D—“Faust”, “Hot Spot”, “Kontakt” and “Maya”—serve as archival snapshots recorded during the original sessions, preserving the raw creative spark that fueled the debut. Idealism Forever occupies a pivotal spot in Digitalism’s discography. It revisits the debut that first defined their sound while the accompanying bonus material offers insight into the creative process behind that era. Positioned alongside Optimism and I Love You, Dude, the reissue highlights the label’s commitment to presenting a full picture of the act’s evolution, from their early electronica foundations to their more recent output. For DJs, the record supplies a ready-made toolkit: the original album tracks deliver familiar, dancefloor-tested material, while the bonus cuts provide fresh, less-played options for deeper set moments. The sequencing across the two discs supports both straight-through play and selective digging, making the release valuable for both club settings and personal collections. The physical package is a double 12-inch vinyl set, featuring printed innersleeves that echo the original artwork. The format mirrors the 2024 three-LP version’s content but consolidates it onto two discs, preserving the analogue fidelity noted by the label.
