About Release
Bloody Mary – Second State Of Reality
Dame Music’s DAME-055 arrives as a 12-inch vinyl EP that revisits two of Bloody Mary’s most celebrated hardware-driven tracks while adding a fresh perspective from techno veteran Chris Liebing. The release, slated for 13 November 2026, sits squarely in the acid techno vein, offering a blend of raw TR-909 percussion, squelchy 303 lines and a darker, more forceful reinterpretation that expands the original’s acid intensity.
Within Dame Music’s catalogue, Second State Of Reality follows a series of milestone releases that mark the label’s evolution. Earlier in 2025 the label issued the three-part “15 Years Of Dame-Music” compilation series (DAME-052 to DAME-054), and in 2024 it delivered Machine Code EP (DAME-051) and Bloody Mary’s own Alternate States Of Reality (DAME-050). The new EP therefore continues the label’s tradition of pairing archival material with contemporary re-imaginings, reinforcing its reputation for curating forward-thinking techno.
The A-side opens with “Reality One (Chris Liebing Rework)”. Inviting Liebing to reinterpret the original “Reality One (Acid Mix)”, Bloody Mary receives a heavy, driving techno remix that pushes the track’s acid core into a darker, more aggressive terrain. The rework maintains the hypnotic momentum of the source while layering a denser, more relentless rhythm that suits peak-time moments and late-night sets.
Side B returns to Bloody Mary’s hardware roots. “Reality One (Acid Mix)” follows the A-side, preserving the track’s signature acid line while delivering a crisp, high-frequency sheen that contrasts with the deeper, more ominous rework. The sequencing creates a subtle shift from the Liebing-styled intensity back to the original’s pulsating groove, offering DJs a versatile transition point.
The final cut, “Reality Three (909 Mix)”, closes the EP with a raw, hypnotic cut built around crunchy TR-909 drums and mind-melting 303 sequences. Its relentless rhythm and stripped-back arrangement provide a perfect closing statement, reinforcing the EP’s focus on hardware-driven techno and delivering a track that can sustain momentum on the dancefloor or serve as a powerful outro in a DJ’s set.
For Bloody Mary, the EP sits alongside earlier output such as the Acid Avengers 034 12-inch (AAR034, 2025) and the previous Dame Music release Alternate States Of Reality (DAME-050, 2024). The addition of a Chris Liebing rework links the artist’s catalogue to the broader techno lineage represented by Liebing’s own recent output, including his 2026 releases Eye C (CLR144V) and Entangled Circuits (CLR147V) on Create Learn Realize.
From a collector’s perspective, Second State Of Reality offers a concise three-track statement that bridges past and present. The inclusion of a high-profile remix alongside two original hardware cuts makes the EP a useful tool for DJs seeking both familiar acid motifs and a darker, club-ready reinterpretation. Its sequencing supports flexible mixing: the rework can launch a set or serve as a high-energy peak, while the B-side tracks provide a smoother, more hypnotic flow for deeper moments.
The record is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, aligning with the format of both the label’s earlier anniversary compilations and Bloody Mary’s own previous releases. Its physical presentation respects the label’s established aesthetic without additional embellishments.
