About Release

Sitry & 6.3 – Electro Drugs / Des SPerance opens the Fenek release FENEKMACHEUP6.3, a 12-inch vinyl that digs into the late-90s hardcore-tekno vein of DSP records. The two tracks, each running between seven and eight minutes, have been remastered by Stefan ZMK and cut by Simon Davey at 45 RPM, offering a clear, punchy groove that feels both nostalgic and immediate. Within Fenek’s recent output this record follows a string of collaborative projects that lean into the label’s dark, kinetic aesthetic. Earlier in 2026 the label issued “PRJCT RMX” (FNKBLKPNCCHPRJCTRMX) by Fifth Era, Matt Fraktal and Tzii, and the “Pinocchio Project LP 2x12” (FNKBLKPNCCHPRJCT) by the same trio, both reinforcing Fenek’s focus on expansive, high-energy techno. The 2025 “Bushido EP” (FENEK04RP) and “Fenek X” (FENEKX) by Lucas RHT, as well as Pimouss’ “Fenek Machup Deu” (FENEKMACHEUPDEU) and “Fenek Macheup” (FENEKMACHEUPUN), set a precedent for the label’s penchant for powerful, rhythm-driven cuts, a context in which the new 6.3 tracks sit comfortably. Side A opens with “Electro Drugs (DSP02)”. The title suggests a synthetic, high-octane vibe that matches the DSP catalogue’s reputation for relentless beats. At 45 RPM the track delivers a tight, driving pulse that can anchor a peak-hour set, while its length provides room for gradual layering and tension building. The B-side, “Des SPrance (DSP05)”, follows a similar structural intensity, its title evoking a more atmospheric, perhaps slightly off-kilter mood that complements the A-side’s aggression. Both cuts share a hard-edged, tekno-inflected rhythm that makes them suitable for mixing into the darker corners of a set, offering DJs a robust foundation for transitions or extended builds. For collectors, the record stands out as a curated glimpse into DSP’s late-90s output, now presented with contemporary mastering fidelity. The printed sleeve, illustrated by VSteeFDB, captures an Akira-inspired bar scene and references the spoken sample “c’est pas un night-club ici !”, adding a visual and cultural layer that deepens the release’s underground appeal. From a DJ’s perspective, the 45 RPM format grants a wider dynamic range, allowing the tracks to cut through heavy bass systems without losing definition. Their extended structures make them ideal for late-night moments where a sustained groove is required, while the clear mastering ensures they sit well alongside both classic and modern techno selections. The record is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, cut at 45 RPM, with a printed sleeve that reflects the release’s cinematic inspiration. The format choice supports the high-frequency detail of the remastered material, delivering a listening experience that honors the original DSP tapes while providing the clarity expected by today’s vinyl enthusiasts.
