About Release
Various – MTB030
Mitsubasa Records presents MTB030, catalogue MTB030, a 12-inch vinyl that marks the label’s 30th release. Issued on 4 December 2026, the compilation returns to the label’s early-stage format of a various-artists EP, weaving deep, dub-infused grooves with Detroit-inspired techno. The selection of OFF/GRID, Utroit & K.O.S, Jesica Falaschi and Gockel offers a concise snapshot of the current techno spectrum while celebrating Mitsubasa’s three-decade milestone.
Within the Mitsubasa catalogue, MTB030 follows a series of releases that have explored the label’s evolving techno aesthetic. Earlier in 2026 the label delivered Benales’ “Tides EP” (MTB026) and Slv’s “Blessing EP” (MTB025), both of which emphasized melodic undercurrents. The preceding “Endless Signal EP” by Novelty (MTB029) pushed a more kinetic rhythm, while “Near Ways Visions EP” by Svk (MTB028) and “Electric Reverie EP” by Astro (MTB027) leaned into atmospheric textures. MTB030 therefore arrives as a reflective yet forward-looking entry, linking the label’s dub-laden past with its current focus on crisp, motor-driven techno.
Side A opens with OFF / GRID’s “Rooftops”. The track’s title suggests an elevated, open-air vibe, and the music delivers a spacious groove that sits comfortably between the deep, dub-inspired aesthetic of the compilation’s first half and the more driving force of the second side. Following it, Utroit & K.O.S present “Kimura”, a piece that picks up the momentum, offering a tighter, rhythm-centric flow that bridges the ambient feel of “Rooftops” with the more urgent tone of the B-side.
Side B begins with Jesica Falaschi’s “Before the End”. The title hints at a reflective mood, and the track provides a brooding, hypnotic pulse that deepens the dub-infused atmosphere established earlier. It serves as a perfect transition into Gockel’s “Supernatural”, which caps the record with a Detroit-flavoured techno drive, its title evoking an otherworldly energy that lifts the set toward a climax suitable for late-night moments.
MTB030 occupies a distinctive place in Mitsubasa’s output, uniting the label’s early compilation spirit with its current sonic direction. By juxtaposing deep, dub-laden textures against the sharper edge of Detroit-style techno, the release underscores the label’s commitment to both heritage and progression within the underground techno community.
For DJs, the EP offers two pairs of tracks that can be mixed either as complementary back-to-back statements or as individual tools. “Rooftops” and “Kimura” provide a versatile opening pair, ideal for warm-up sets that require a gradual build-up of energy. “Before the End” and “Supernatural” deliver a darker, more driving vibe, perfect for peak-time moments or for creating tension before a release. The concise four-track format makes the record a handy addition to any vinyl-centric collection, allowing quick access to both deep and kinetic elements.
The record is pressed on a transparent splatter 12-inch vinyl, housed in a clear PVC sleeve, reflecting the celebratory nature of the 30th release. Mastering and lacquer cutting were handled by Kassian Troyer at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin, ensuring a clean, punchy translation of the tracks to the analog medium.
