Pigeon Steve – Dialect is a four-track 12-inch vinyl EP released on (Emotional) Especial, bringing together four deeply atmospheric productions from Glasgow-born, South-East London-based DJ and producer Adam Low, better known as Pigeon Steve. Released as catalogue number EES054, Dialect explores the more psychedelic and leftfield side of underground electronic music. Across “Sarbeans”, “Dialect”, “Wading In” and “The Sound Of The Swamp”, Pigeon Steve builds a distinctive world of dubbed-out grooves, hypnotic rhythms, warped samples and echo-heavy textures. The EP opens with “Sarbeans”, immediately establishing the record's hazy, sample-driven aesthetic. Rather than relying on conventional melodic structures, Pigeon Steve lets rhythm, texture and atmosphere determine the direction, creating a track that feels simultaneously familiar and difficult to categorise. The title track, “Dialect”, pushes further into the EP's psychedelic territory. Its combination of rolling percussion, spacious production and carefully treated electronic elements reflects Pigeon Steve's instinct for finding unusual details within a functional dancefloor framework. The result is music that can work in a DJ set while rewarding repeated listening away from the club. On “Wading In”, the emphasis shifts towards a deeper, more immersive groove.
