About Release

Mystery Friend launches Sebucan Records with Acid Tracks EP, a four-track 12-inch built around the physical energy of acid house, analogue machines and sample-driven dance music. Released as SEBR001, the record marks the debut of the Montevideo-based label while introducing the production work of Argentine artist Mystery Friend. The EP is rooted in a deliberately physical approach to electronic music. Its concept draws on forgotten sounds and combines elements of the past and future through analogue machinery, samples and rhythm. Rather than treating acid house as a historical reference, Acid Tracks EP approaches its vocabulary as a living production language — one based on repetition, machine rhythm and the hypnotic effect of a persistent groove. The record opens with Encuentro, establishing the darker and more mysterious side of the release. The emphasis is on rhythmic continuity and atmosphere, with the track functioning as an introduction to the EP's machine-led aesthetic. Freak The House moves the focus toward the dancefloor, using a more direct rhythmic framework. The title itself reflects the record's physical intent: this is music designed around movement, repetition and the interaction between analogue sound and a club system. Jack The House continues that approach with a stronger emphasis on the classic jack-driven foundation of house music. The production remains stripped to its essential components, allowing rhythm and machine character to occupy the centre of the arrangement. Touch Me closes the EP while maintaining its nocturnal atmosphere. Across the four tracks, Mystery Friend avoids excessive ornamentation, instead allowing analogue textures, samples and rhythm to create the tension and momentum. The wider concept behind Acid Tracks EP is closely connected to Sebucan Records itself. The label is a record store from Montevideo, Uruguay, founded and led by Louis Merlán, a DJ and selector with more than two decades of experience in electronic music. For its first release, the label establishes an aesthetic based on the meeting point between vintage electronic technology, darker club atmospheres and contemporary dancefloor functionality. The visual identity follows the same idea. Uruguayan designer Diego Prado created the artwork around imagery of analogue machinery and vintage mechanisms, creating a visual dialogue between the industrial and mystical qualities of the music. Bordello A Parigi Distribution handles international distribution, extending the release beyond Uruguay to record shops and collectors worldwide. Acid Tracks EP is therefore both a debut statement and a clear definition of Sebucan Records' musical direction: rhythm-first electronic music, analogue character, dark atmosphere and a strong emphasis on the physical experience of vinyl and the dancefloor.
