About Release
Munda – Delia (TAPE) arrives on Sucata Tapes as catalog number SUC89, a cassette release that continues the label’s focus on experimental soundscapes. The record follows earlier tape outings such as Ondness – I Can Only Put So Much Into a Song (SUC86) and I’A’V – Volatile Poem (SUC81), situating it within a series of immersive, field-recorded projects that Sucata has been curating throughout 2026.
Recorded during a September 2021 residency at the abandoned convent-industrial complex of Konvent in Cal Rosal, the album draws on the acoustic imprint of a former textile factory. Munda (Selu Herraiz) used a battered Yamaha Electone organ and a dynamic microphone to capture the resonant decay of terracotta floors, rusted iron and shattered glass, turning the site’s lingering frequencies into a meditative electro-acoustic narrative.
Side A opens with “Sol Sostenido”, a piece that evokes the lingering heat of the sun filtered through the high, echoing ceilings of the convent. Its sustained tones set a contemplative mood that segues naturally into the title track “Delia (Lisergia Interior)”, a deeper immersion into the interior reverberations of the space, offering a spacious canvas for DJs to layer atmospheric textures. The third cut, “Calima”, follows the same reflective trajectory, its title suggesting a hazy, dust-laden atmosphere that mirrors the lingering industrial remnants. Closing the side, “Horizonte Líquido” expands the sonic horizon with a fluid sense of movement, providing a gentle transition toward the record’s second half.
Within Munda’s emerging catalogue, Delia marks a continuation of the artist’s exploration of ritual and territorial memory, building on the same investigative approach that defined earlier work on tape formats. The release contributes to Sucata Tapes’ 2026 line-up, which has emphasized site-specific recordings that foreground the materiality of sound and the histories embedded in abandoned spaces.
For DJs, the cassette’s four tracks offer a palette of long-form, ambient gestures suitable for late-night sets or moments of introspection on the dancefloor. The sustained, resonant qualities of “Sol Sostenido” and “Delia (Lisergia Interior)” can be looped to create evolving textures, while “Calima” and “Horizonte Líquido” provide smoother transitions and a sense of release. Collectors will appreciate the tactile nature of the cassette format, which aligns with the album’s emphasis on physical memory and the tactile interaction between microphone, speaker and the decaying architecture.
Delia (TAPE) is presented as a 12-track cassette (four tracks per side) in the experimental genre, released on 6 November 2026. The physical format reinforces the work’s focus on material resonance and the alchemical listening experience that Munda has crafted from the ghosts of an industrial past.
