KABARET MAKER, AFRIKA BAMBAATAA, DONATO DOZZY — Evolve

Kabaret Maker and Afrika Bambaataa come together on Evolve, bringing Bambaataa’s unmistakable influence into a new electronic setting. The title track carries traces of the sound and energy of Bambaataa’s more recent work, with Kabaret Maker taking it somewhere darker and more futuristic. Retro electronics, tension and flashes of nostalgia run throughout the production, while still keeping the track firmly rooted in the present. Donato Dozzy steps in for the remix, taking Evolve in a deeper and more hypnotic direction. Stripping the original back, Dozzy centres the remix around analogue sequences, deep kicks and fragments of the vocal. Rather than overcomplicating things, the track develops through subtle shifts in rhythm, texture and repetition, gradually building tension while keeping the groove locked throughout.
