About Release
Eric OS – Windthrow opens the Space Trace ST005 12-inch vinyl with a statement that bridges house, electro, Italo and punk sensibilities. The record arrives on 20 November 2026 and lands squarely in the label’s forward-looking electro-trance techno vein, offering a nostalgic yet progressive soundscape that refuses to conform to any preset formula.
Within Space Trace’s modest catalogue, Windthrow follows the earlier ST004 release Underworld, also by Eric OS, cementing a continuity of boundary-pushing productions on the imprint. The label’s recent output has been defined by a willingness to blend dancefloor intensity with off-kilter melodic twists, a path first hinted at with Underworld and now extended by this new EP.
Side A opens with the title track “Windthrow”, a kinetic piece that sets the tone with a propulsive groove suited for the peak of a set. It is followed by “Bass-Hi”, which sustains the momentum while introducing a darker tonal shift that prepares the listener for the night-time mood of the B-side. On side B, “Wake Up in the Night” deepens the nocturnal atmosphere, offering a spacious backdrop that works well for late-hour mixing. “Sane” provides a contrasting, more restrained pulse that can serve as a bridge between high-energy moments and more introspective passages. The record closes with “Wicked Time”, a track that caps the journey with a forward-looking energy, echoing the record’s overall blend of nostalgia and futurism.
Eric OS’s recent discography shows a clear evolution: the 2025 Timebomb EP on Deep in Dis intl. explored darker, percussive textures, while the 2022 Numero Uno EP on TERRAZZO highlighted a more melodic, Italo-inflected side. Windthrow builds on these foundations, marrying the rhythmic drive of earlier work with a sharper, genre-blurring edge that feels both familiar and fresh within the artist’s output.
In the current underground landscape, where electro-trance hybrids are resurging, this EP offers DJs a versatile toolkit. The opening tracks are primed for peak-time sets, delivering momentum and drive, while the B-side cuts provide moodier, more atmospheric moments ideal for transitioning into deeper phases of a set. Collectors will appreciate the cohesive sequencing and the way each piece contributes to the record’s overarching narrative.
The release is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, matching the format of Eric OS’s previous Space Trace outing Underworld (ST004) and the Timebomb EP, reinforcing the tactile appeal for vinyl enthusiasts.
