About Release

Edward – Running Back Mastermix: Edward - Edits (LP opens a folder of thirteen personal edits that span decades of deep, minimal and tech house influences. Issued by Running Back as catalogue RBEDWARDLP, the set arrives as a 3×12-inch vinyl and functions as both a DJ tool and a sonic autobiography, weaving together re-imagined moments from Carl Craig, Roman Flügel, Motohiko Hamase, Kirk Degiorgio, Aubrey, Sven Väth, Michael Rother and others. Within the Running Back catalogue this release follows a busy 2026 schedule that includes Tornado Wallace’s Lonely Planet LP (RBLP09) and Left At Sunset (RB145), as well as Roman Flügel’s Mega EP (RB105). On the same day the label also issued Edward’s Running Back Mastermix: Edward - Edits MC (RBEDWARDCS), a cassette companion that mirrors the vinyl’s concept. Earlier in the year the label put out Marcel Dettmann’s mastermix cassette (RBDETTCS1) and the RB Pres. Clearaudio 20th Anniversary-2026 compilation (RBCLEAR1), framing Edward’s LP as part of a series of curated, edit-focused releases. Side A begins with “Match 99 – Suchaa (Paradise Tribal) (Edward’s Paradise Rework)”, a five-minute stretch that re-positions the original’s groove, extending its hypnotic pulse for a smoother transition. The second cut, “Carl Craig – Twilight (Edward’s Drum Version)”, strips back the melodic layers to foreground a tighter drum pattern, offering a rhythmic bridge that works well after the opening track’s tribal feel. Side B continues the journey through “Roman IV – Green Tea (Edward Edit)”, a nearly eight-minute piece where Edward elongates a key phrase, allowing the minimal house vibe to breathe on the dancefloor. “Paradise 3001 – Texas Nebulae (Edward’s Version 2 Edit)” follows with a five-minute reinterpretation that shifts the track’s entrance, creating a subtle tension that resolves into a warm, rolling groove. Side C opens with “Lawrence – Untitled (Carsten Jost Remix) (Edward’s Red. Edit)”, where Edward’s edit refines the dub-techno texture, sharpening its percussive edge for a more immediate impact. “Motohiko Hamase – Opaque (Edward’s Edit)” then offers a five-minute slice that highlights the original’s ambient jazz undercurrents while tightening the rhythmic flow, making it suitable for late-night sets. Side D presents “Lenny Dee & Nico – E-Time (Edward’s Rough Cut)”, a concise four-minute version that removes extraneous sections, leaving a focused, driving pulse. “Aubrey – Dawn Over the Blue Planet (Edward’s Subtile Drum Version)” extends the original’s atmospheric start into a more pronounced drum groove, providing a gentle lift for a sunrise-type set. Side E contains “Techniker – @ dusk (Edward’s Dry Edit)”, a six-minute track that emphasizes the original’s minimal techno skeleton, allowing DJs to layer it with melodic elements. “Sven Väth – L’Esperanza (Edward’s Spirit Edit)” stretches to eight-minutes, where Edward expands a central motif, giving the track a more expansive, trance-inflected feel that can anchor a peak-time moment. Side F concludes the collection with three distinct edits. “Kirk Degiorgio – Elate (Edward Infinitiv Loop Version)” loops a central phrase, creating a hypnotic centerpiece for a set’s climax. “János Másik – Trance Balance (Edward’s Edit)” offers a five-minute re-shaping that balances the original’s trance energy with a tighter house rhythm. Finally, “Michael Rother – Katzenmusik-5 (Edward’s Edit)” re-contexts the kosmische original into a five-minute deep-house vignette, rounding off the narrative with a nod to the producer’s early influences. In Edward’s own discography the LP sits alongside his Running Back Mastermix: Edward - Edits MC cassette released the same day, as well as earlier 12-inch outings on Trelik Records (Streams Of Time EP) and Kalahari Oyster Cult (Deep Sea Villain EP). Those releases established his penchant for blending deep, minimal and tech house aesthetics, a thread that is now fully realized in this three-disc mastermix. For DJs, the record offers a curated set of ready-made edits that can be dropped into any deep-house or tech-house set without the need for further manipulation. The extended passages and re-timed entrances give mixers flexibility to blend tracks seamlessly, while the varied source material—from Detroit techno to Japanese ambient jazz—provides a palette for diverse set constructions. Collectors will appreciate the physical scope of a 3×12-inch package that documents a personal archive of edits, a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work of a long-time DJ. The release arrives as a 3×12-inch vinyl, each disc housing a side of the mastermix. The format respects the analog tradition of the label while delivering the breadth of a dozen-plus edits across three records.
