Dextro – Planets and Stars Portuguese techno veteran Dextro returns to Mutual Rytm with Planets and Stars, his second EP for SHDW’s Stuttgart-based label. Originally issued in June 2026, the record presents five tightly constructed tracks of deep, hypnotic techno, combining stripped-back rhythmic programming with atmospheric synthesis, rolling low-end and carefully controlled tension. The current MR046RP edition brings the release back to vinyl in a dedicated repress edition. Dextro has been a longstanding presence in the European underground since the 1990s, developing a production style based on economy, precision and intuitive groove. His work on Planets and Stars reflects that approach throughout: nothing is overworked, yet each track contains enough rhythmic and textural movement to sustain a strong sense of forward momentum. Mutual Rytm label head SHDW has described the EP as Dextro’s most refined and focused work to date. The record opens with 1000 Places, a heavyweight piece of deep techno built around rooted drums, eerie synthesizer whispers and sonar-like electronic signals. The arrangement derives its impact from contrast: the physical force of the rhythm section is surrounded by sparse, unsettling details that appear and disappear within the stereo field. It is a direct, functional opening cut, but one with enough atmospheric information to give the groove considerable depth. Industria Acéfala moves further into hypnotic territory.
