CROMPER — Tharsis

The "Tharsis EP" marks the first appearance of Cromper, the new moniker of producer Special Zip. The four tracks are driven by the raw groove of the Roland TR-909 drum machine and a straight beat at 140 BPM. Stripped of obvious melodies, the music focuses on a hypnotic structure, dense analog atmosphere, and cosmic energy. The record concludes with a minimalist techno remix by ANDC. The release is pressed on classic 12" black vinyl. Both sides of the sleeve feature a shot of hardened lava from an Icelandic volcano, visually referencing the landscapes of Mars.
