About Release
Cosmo Dance – Cosmo-Logic is the newest 12-inch offering from Periodica (catalogue PRD1030). Arriving on 23 October 2026, the record channels the early Italo-Disco ethos while weaving in strands of cosmic disco, funk house and hip-hop-inflected grooves. Produced in Napoli with contributions from Raffaele Arcella and Dario di Pace, the release imagines a dystopian dialogue between humans and machines, a concept that informs every cut.
Within Periodica’s recent output, Cosmo-Logic follows the 2026 “ROCK THE DISCO / SHABA RIDDIM” 7-inch (catalogue WHM10183) and Whodamanny’s “Onda Biloba” (PRD1028), both issued earlier this year. It also arrives after the label’s 2025 “Sunset Breaker” LP (PRD1026) and the 2024 “Party Line EP” (PRD1025) and “Acqua Di Sale” (SPPRD1016RP), situating the record amid a series of releases that blend disco heritage with contemporary club aesthetics.
Side A opens with “Força Major”, a track that evokes the mechanical pulse of the record’s narrative, setting a tone of relentless drive that dovetails with the subsequent “My Machine”. The second cut deepens the thematic tension, extending the synthetic landscape while maintaining a dancefloor-ready groove. On the flip side, “Binary War” introduces a darker, more confrontational atmosphere, echoing the record’s story of binary conflict. It is followed by “Computer World”, which resolves the tension with a smoother, yet still futuristic, finish that complements the preceding track’s intensity.
Cosmo Dance, the alias of veteran Italian producer and DJ Cosimo Mandorino, has previously explored similar territories on Mirella Records with the “MR. COCONUT EP” (MIR007, 2026) and “GO GO DANCE” (MIR005, 2025). Those releases established a penchant for merging Italo-Disco nostalgia with modern production, a thread that is further developed on Cosmo-Logic. The record therefore represents a logical continuation of Mandorino’s catalogue, expanding the sonic palette introduced on earlier EPs.
In the broader context of underground electronic music, Cosmo-Logic stands as a manifesto to the early Italo-Disco period while remaining firmly rooted in today’s club culture. Its blend of mechanical rhythms, vocoded textures and analog Korg MS-20 influences offers a fresh perspective on the disco-house continuum, positioning the release as a bridge between retro reverence and forward-looking experimentation.
For DJs, the record provides two pairs of tracks that can be mixed either as tight duos or as individual statements. The A-side cuts work well for building momentum in the early part of a set, while the B-side offers darker, more introspective moments suitable for peak-time transitions or late-night closures. Collectors will appreciate the cohesive narrative and the continuity it offers with Mandorino’s Mirella output and Periodica’s recent catalog.
The 12-inch vinyl presents the four tracks in a clear, side-by-side arrangement that respects the analog listening experience. The format allows the mechanical grooves and analog effects to be heard with the depth they demand, reinforcing the record’s conceptual focus on the interplay between human touch and machine precision.
