About Release

VA JUUZ005 is the fifth vinyl release from JUUZ Records, bringing together four stripped-back minimal house productions from Silat Beksi & Fedo, Minube, Daniel Broesecke and Chris Llopis. Released in June 2025 as a vinyl-only 12-inch, the record captures the label’s focus on underground minimal house and the stripped-down, groove-led aesthetic associated with the Romanian minimal and microhouse continuum. Mastered by Rob Small, with artwork by Peter Koblinger, JUUZ005 was conceived by the label as a snapshot of the underground minimal house culture of 2025 rather than simply another compilation. The A-side opens with Silat Beksi & Fedo’s “Porque Tu”, a collaboration that immediately establishes the record’s understated rhythmic language. The production works from a lean house framework in which groove and micro-detail take precedence over large melodic gestures. The rhythm is tightly controlled, with subtle percussive movement creating a sense of forward motion without disturbing the stripped-back character of the track. Silat Beksi’s presence is particularly appropriate for JUUZ005. A long-established figure within the Romanian minimal and microhouse sphere, he has released extensively across specialist labels, including previous appearances on JUUZ Records. Here, alongside Fedo, he delivers a track that reflects the label’s preference for minimal arrangements where small rhythmic shifts become the principal source of development. “Porque Tu” is therefore less concerned with immediate impact than with creating a groove that can gradually lock a dancefloor into its rhythm. The arrangement leaves space between the elements, allowing percussion and bass to interact naturally and giving DJs plenty of room to mix the track into deeper sections of a set. It is a restrained opening statement, but one with the kind of subtle rhythmic detail that rewards repeated listening. A2 introduces Minube with “909 Things”, another production rooted in stripped-back minimal house. The Moldovan producer had already established a close connection with JUUZ Records before the release, with the label describing his sound as closely aligned with its own musical philosophy. His contribution to JUUZ005 continues that relationship through a production built around a compact rhythmic framework and understated electronic detail. “909 Things” takes its title from the Roland TR-909 drum machine, but its character is broader than a simple exercise in drum-machine nostalgia. The track uses its rhythmic foundation as a platform for gradual movement, allowing the individual elements to interact with precision. Like the opening cut, it avoids unnecessary ornamentation and instead builds its identity through groove, space and carefully controlled repetition. The two A-side tracks complement one another particularly well. “Porque Tu” establishes the darker, more understated side of the compilation, while “909 Things” adds another layer of rhythmic detail without breaking the overall flow. Both tracks demonstrate the principle that runs through JUUZ005: minimalism does not mean a lack of movement. Instead, the music derives its energy from small changes that become increasingly significant within an extended DJ mix. Daniel Broesecke’s “No Name” opens the B-side with a deeper and more hypnotic approach. The track maintains the stripped-down production style of the A-side while allowing the groove to develop through repetition and subtle textural shifts. With a running time of more than seven minutes, it has the space to establish a complete atmosphere rather than compressing its ideas into a short arrangement. Broesecke’s contribution is particularly effective in the context of the complete record because it keeps the transition from the A-side deliberately understated. There is no dramatic change of direction; instead, the compilation moves deeper into its central territory of minimal house and microhouse. The bass and percussion remain the foundation, while the surrounding electronic details create a constantly shifting surface. That patience is central to “No Name”. The track rewards DJs who allow the groove to run rather than treating every section as a cue for a major transition. Its strength lies in the interaction between repetition and microscopic variation, a defining characteristic of the deeper forms of minimal house. Chris Llopis closes the record with “Manipulator”, the most immediately driving selection of the four. While remaining firmly inside the stripped-back framework established by the preceding tracks, the production gives greater emphasis to the bassline and to a continuous exchange of upper-frequency elements. The result is a more muscular closing track, with the groove maintaining a strong physical pull while the production remains economical. “Manipulator” provides an effective conclusion precisely because it does not abandon the restraint of the rest of the compilation. Instead, it intensifies the rhythmic focus. The bass provides the foundation while constantly evolving details above it keep the track in motion. This gives the B2 a particularly useful role for DJs: it can operate as a late-set minimal tool while retaining enough personality to stand out within a sequence. The track also represents the broader stylistic character of JUUZ005. Specialist retailers describe the compilation as cool, austere and stripped-down minimal house, with a strong connection to the Romanian sound and a pronounced emphasis on hypnotic groove. Chris Llopis’s “Manipulator” is singled out as a particularly compelling cut, thanks to its combination of bassline pressure and continuous upper-register movement. As a complete four-track programme, JUUZ005 is remarkably consistent without becoming repetitive. “Porque Tu” establishes the groove, “909 Things” develops the rhythmic palette, “No Name” deepens the atmosphere, and “Manipulator” closes with the strongest sense of physical momentum. Each producer approaches the same minimal vocabulary from a slightly different angle, allowing the compilation to function both as a coherent label statement and as a collection of individually useful DJ tracks. The release also reflects JUUZ Records’ broader identity. Founded in Hungary and focused on cultivating underground music culture, the label has developed a catalogue centred on house, minimal house, microhouse and related forms of stripped-back electronic music. JUUZ005 sits naturally within that catalogue, bringing together artists connected to the international minimal scene while maintaining a clearly defined label aesthetic. The physical format is an important part of that identity. JUUZ005 was released as a vinyl-only 12-inch, with Rob Small handling the mastering and Peter Koblinger responsible for the graphics. The label's own description presents the record as a timestamp of underground minimal house culture in 2025, an idea that suits the release particularly well: rather than chasing a particular trend, these four tracks document a continuing underground approach to rhythm, space and DJ-focused electronic music. For selectors and collectors, VA JUUZ005 is a concise snapshot of JUUZ Records at an important point in its development. Silat Beksi & Fedo, Minube, Daniel Broesecke and Chris Llopis each contribute a carefully controlled piece of minimal house, with the complete sequence moving from restrained groove through deeper hypnotic territory and towards the more forceful “Manipulator”. Pressed exclusively for vinyl, JUUZ005 is a focused record for DJs drawn to minimal house, microhouse and the detailed, patient club music that continues to define this underground tradition.
