About Release

Various Artists – NORD 009 NORD 009, the ninth release from Italian imprint NORD LTD, brings together Shkedul, Enrico Vivaldi, Juaan and Alex Neri for a tightly focused four-track 12-inch built around acid techno, electro and harder-edged tech-house territory. Catalogued as NORDLTD009, the record was pressed as a limited edition of 300 copies and is presented as a vinyl-focused release. The EP is deliberately divided into two complementary halves. The A-side concentrates on hypnotic, acid-driven techno, while the B-side moves toward a more futuristic electro vocabulary, giving NORD 009 a clear stylistic progression without losing the label's emphasis on functional club music. Shkedul opens the record with In My Possession, a 127 BPM production built around tense rhythmic programming and hypnotic synth movement. The track sits between techno and trance-inflected acid, using repetition and forward momentum rather than excessive arrangement changes. Its extended seven-minute structure makes it particularly suited to DJ mixing, allowing the central groove and synthetic textures to develop progressively. Enrico Vivaldi's Warning raises the intensity considerably. At 133 BPM, the track pushes further into acid techno, with a more aggressive rhythmic framework and prominent acid lines. The result is a sharper, more physical piece of club music that contrasts effectively with the hypnotic character of the opening track. Specialist retailers specifically highlight its hard acid treatment and tightly wound groove. The B-side changes direction with Juaan's Dos Calles. Rather than continuing the A-side's straight acid-techno pressure, the track introduces a more electro-oriented rhythmic language, with pulsating grooves and spacious electronic textures. Juaan, an Argentine producer whose catalogue includes releases on Partisan and Kalahari Oyster Cult, brings a distinctly modern underground perspective to the compilation. Alex Neri's remix completes NORD 009 by reshaping Dos Calles without abandoning its tougher electronic character. The remix retains the original's electro foundation while introducing a more pronounced house swing and additional rhythmic elasticity. Newtone describes the rework as preserving the track's tough electro energy while giving it a more house-oriented bounce, making it a natural bridge between electro, tech house and the broader Italian club tradition. The sequencing is one of the record's strongest qualities. The first two tracks establish NORD LTD's acid-techno side through increasingly forceful grooves, while the two versions of Dos Calles open the sound into electro and house territory. At 127–134 BPM, NORD 009 remains firmly designed for the club, but the contrast between its four productions gives DJs several different points of entry into the record. NORD LTD is operated by Shkedul, whose own productions frequently move between techno, acid, house and electro. NORD 009 therefore works not simply as a various-artists compilation, but as a concise representation of the label's aesthetic: hardware-minded electronic music, hypnotic repetition, acidic synthesis and functional dancefloor structures. Shkedul's NORD catalogue has continued to develop this approach across subsequent releases, reinforcing the label's focus on contemporary underground electronic music. For DJs, NORD 009 is particularly effective as a transitional record. In My Possession and Warning provide the tougher techno material, while Dos Calles and the Alex Neri Remix offer more space, swing and electro character. The limited pressing of 300 copies adds a clear collector dimension, while the music itself remains focused on practical dancefloor use rather than novelty.
