UNKNOWN ARTISTS — Light Touches 12 (andrea Passenger Edits) EP

Unknown Artists – LIGHT TOUCHES 12 (ANDREA PASSENGER EDITS) EP opens a fresh chapter for Light Touches Records, arriving as catalogue LTR12 on 12-inch vinyl. The label, known for unearthing rare disco and funk gems, frames this EP as a set of four uncompromising edits that bridge classic dancefloor sensibilities with contemporary grooves. With a release date slated for 23 October 2026, the record positions itself at the intersection of disco, hip-hop house, and funk house, promising a versatile addition to any crate. Within Light Touches Records’ recent output, this EP follows the earlier LIGHT TOUCHES 11 (FRAWL & BLACKOUT EDITS) LTR-11, also released in 2026. The continuity underscores the label’s commitment to re-contextualising forgotten tracks through meticulous editing, a practice that has become a hallmark of its catalogue. Side A begins with “Do It This Way”, described as an intense lost disco roller that carries an oniric string machine and thundering bass. The track’s driving momentum sets a high-energy tone, ideal for building early-set intensity. It is followed by “It’s True”, which the label frames as a deeper, relentless Philly groove infused with psychedelic tones, offering a darker contrast that sustains the dancefloor’s focus while introducing a hypnotic edge. Flipping to side B, “Jus’ta Funky Jam” opens the second half with a killer groovy arrangement, delivering a buoyant rhythm that invites movement and works well as a transition piece after a peak. The EP closes with “Dance With You”, characterized as a dreamy, mellow jazz-funk tune, providing a relaxed, melodic wind-down that can serve as a cool-off moment or a late-night ambience filler. These four cuts, edited without overdubs, aim to capture the spirit of classic disco manipulators while speaking to today’s dancefloors, a balance that reflects the label’s curatorial vision. For Unknown Artists, this EP arrives after a series of diverse releases across various imprints, including the “Falling In Love EP” on Fokuz Recordings, the “Superstylin’ Remixes – Hand Stamped” on Planet Rhythm, and the “Shape Shifting EP” on Vibez ’93, all issued earlier in 2026. This pattern of exploring different facets of house, disco, and experimental edits situates the current record as a continuation of an exploratory trajectory. In the current underground landscape, where DJs seek both nostalgia and fresh reinterpretations, the LIGHT TOUCHES 12 EP offers a compact yet potent toolkit. “Do It This Way” and “It’s True” provide robust, dancefloor-ready energy for peak moments, while “Jus’ta Funky Jam” and “Dance With You” afford smoother, groove-oriented transitions suitable for deeper sets or closing slots. Collectors will appreciate the limited nature of the pressing—only 300 copies—making it a distinctive addition to any disco-house oriented collection. The record is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, limited to 300 copies, with no digital counterpart, reinforcing its tactile appeal for vinyl enthusiasts. Its format aligns with the label’s focus on physical releases that celebrate the analog listening experience.
