About Release
Tesfa Williams shares his soulful look on UK dance music on his new Heist Recordings EP ‘Club Joy’.Since his Heist debut in 2025, Tesfa Williams has done releases on Local Talk, a neo soul album with SIO on Kid Fonque’s label STY TRU BTS and frequent hostings on Voices Radio. The man has kept himself rather busy, so we’re thrilled he found time to work on new music for us. After collabs / remixes, His return to Heist was well worth the wait, as we see Tesfa share his unique view on UK dance music across 4 original cuts. The EP kicks off with ‘One of one’, a soulful house track with a stellar vocal performance by UK soul singer & long-time collaborator Tendai. With its Rhodes chords and bouncy percussion, Tesfa manages to create an irresistible groove that is just as easy to dance to, as it is to listen to. With performances at Notting Hill Arts Club and Jazz Café, Tendai is no stranger to a catchy performance, and you can hear the jazz and garage influences in the way she delivers her sultry vocals. This one is for the soulful heads and buzzy evenings!Bring me joy takes us into full club mode. Here, Tesfa delivers an immensely positive slice of house music, with gospel-tinged soul vocals layered over a synth & string loop that oozes happiness on top of a stripped back, banging beat. There’s a rubbery bass that glues everything together and with those clever changeovers in the arrangement, this track is one that can work at any time of the night. On the flip, we see the artist go deeper into electronic territory with ‘Everynight’; a vocal track that leans to the sound of Joy Orbison & Overmono. The heavy drums, dark bass and electronic bleeps make for a deep and banging club track that’s best experienced in a room full of smoke and strobes. The EP closer ‘Remembering’ takes us back into classic deep house territory with perhaps the most ‘classic’ Heist track of the bunch. And you know, sometimes, it’s the simplest tracks that do the most. On Remembering, the percussion is stripped back, the bass is just 1 simple loop, and the filtered synths, stabs and Rhodes licks take you deep in the groove. It’s classy, straightforward and a tune made for dancing.Tesfa Williams’ ‘Club Joy’ ep is a very welcome return of the London producer to Heist where we get to enjoy his sound in all its exciting forms. This is UK house music just the way we like it; deep, a bit of grit and full of funk.As always, play it loud and share the music.
