STEFANO CALONICO — I AM Relative Depth EP

Stefano Calonico – I AM RELATIVE DEPTH EP arrives on The Loft Records Limited as catalogue number TLRV002, a 12-inch vinyl that revisits material from the artist’s 2006 project “Relative Depth”. The release is a freshly remastered selection of four tracks, limited to one hundred copies worldwide, offering a concise glimpse into Calonico’s electro-infused dance and disco sensibility. Although the label’s broader output is not detailed here, the EP stands as a focused statement from The Loft Records Limited, presenting a curated snapshot of a period that originally spanned 2006-2007. The decision to remaster these pieces underscores an intent to bring the original vibe into contemporary listening contexts while preserving the period’s kinetic energy. Side A opens with “Supafunk”, a title that suggests a playful, groove-oriented approach. Its placement as the lead track sets a rhythmic tone that carries forward into “Matis”, the second cut, which follows with a complementary mood, sustaining the dancefloor momentum established at the outset. On the flip side, “Drunk Apes” continues the kinetic thread, offering a slightly darker or more experimental edge that contrasts yet connects with the earlier material. The record closes with “Sturdust feat. Fuckin Fil”, a collaborative piece that rounds off the EP with a final burst of energy, tying together the thematic thread of electro-dance exploration. Within Calonico’s limited output that is documented, this EP functions as a bridge between the original “Relative Depth” sessions and today’s club environments. By selecting and remastering these four cuts, the release highlights the enduring relevance of the early-mid-2000s electro and disco hybrid, a sound that continues to inform current underground productions. The concise tracklist allows each piece to breathe, giving DJs the flexibility to weave individual cuts into sets that demand either a driving groove or a moment of playful tension. For DJs, the EP offers a compact toolbox. “Supafunk” and “Matis” provide clean, rhythmic foundations suitable for warm-up or peak-time moments, while “Drunk Apes” can be deployed for a deeper, more textured segment of a set. The closing “Sturdust feat. Fuckin Fil” brings an extra vocal or collaborative flair that can serve as a hook for transitions or as a climactic point in a late-night set. Collectors will appreciate the limited run of one hundred copies, which adds a tangible rarity to a release that already carries historical weight through its remastered nature. The physical format is a 12-inch vinyl, presented in a limited edition run. The pressing respects the original analog aesthetic while delivering the clarity of a modern remaster, ensuring that the grooves translate the intended electro-dance vibe to the needle with fidelity.
