About Release
Regent – North Prism opens Monnom Black’s MONNOM044 as a double-12-inch LP that stakes a claim in the contemporary techno spectrum. The debut album arrives on 27 November 2026 and, across nine tracks, traverses deep, sharp, hypnotic and blissful territories, offering a balanced mix of stripped-back drive and immersive ambience.
Within the Monnom Black catalogue, North Prism follows a series of heavyweight releases: Dax J’s “War Is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength” LP (MONNOM036, 2025) and “SPHINX EP” (MONNOM040, 2026), as well as the “Reign Of Terror” EP (MONNOM042, 2026). Earlier in 2026 the label put out Lars Huismann’s “System Collapse EP” (MONNOM041) and Lpv’s “Dub Ride 2x12” (MONNOM043). Regent’s entry thus arrives amid a line-up that has consistently explored the darker, kinetic edge of techno, while also accommodating more atmospheric experiments.
Side A opens with the title track “North Prism”, a piece that sets the tonal palette with a focus on contrast, moving from restrained pulse to a more expansive, light-filled groove. “Tracing”, the second cut, continues the journey, offering a subtle shift in mood that bridges the opening intensity with the deeper textures that follow.
Side B begins with “Xpander”, a track that leans into a more driving, kinetic feel, providing a clear rhythm for the dancefloor. “Section Nine” follows, delivering a slightly more atmospheric turn, its ambience acting as a counterpoint to the previous momentum while maintaining the album’s hypnotic thread.
Side C’s “Out Of Sight” introduces a darker timbre, its mood suggesting a shift toward introspection. “Vanta Rift” deepens this direction, immersing the listener in a more expansive, almost cinematic space that highlights Regent’s capacity for immersive sound design.
Side D closes the record with three distinct statements. “Truth Serum” re-injects a sharper, more focused energy, suitable for peak-time moments. “Counterpart” offers a reflective, restrained groove that eases the transition toward the final piece. “Lathe Of Dawn” caps the LP with a blissful resolution, blending the album’s earlier darkness and light into a satisfying conclusion.
Regent’s output this year has been prolific, with releases on Mutual Rytm (“Permean”, “Versus 001”), Warg Records (“Elekta EP”), ARTS (“Amber”), +positivesource (“Aphid Riot EP”) and Phorum Records (“Arcane EP”). North Prism consolidates those explorations into a full-length statement, positioning the artist alongside the label’s recent techno offerings while extending his own sonic vocabulary.
For DJs, the record offers a range of entry points: the driving cuts on sides A and B work well for building energy, the atmospheric pieces on side C provide texture for deeper sets, and the varied moods of side D give options for both peak and closing moments. Collectors will appreciate the cohesive sequencing and the way the LP maps Regent’s dual fascination with intensity and restraint.
The release is presented as a 2×12-inch vinyl set, adhering to the format expectations of serious techno collectors and DJs who value the tactile and sonic qualities of analog playback.
