About Release
Paul West – Nebulae
Phoenix-based DJ and producer Paul West arrives on the eudemonia imprint with the five-track 12-inch EP EUDEMONIA022. The record sits comfortably in the label’s forward-thinking catalogue, weaving together strands of Detroit techno, house and electro while maintaining a warm, atmospheric core. Following the momentum of his debut Blue Sun on Rocky Hill, West expands his sonic palette across a tightly sequenced set that feels both expansive and grounded.
Within eudemonia’s recent output, Nebulae follows the earlier releases Zeta Reticula’s The Human Scientific Vessel (EUDEMONIA021, 2026) and Otherend’s Cerebral Waves (EUDEMONIA020, 2025), continuing the label’s focus on immersive, rhythm-centric journeys. The EP also sits after Bufobufo’s Celandine (EUDEMONIA019, 2025) and not even noticed’s Feel (EUDEMONIA018, 2024), reinforcing eudemonia’s commitment to forward-looking electronic music that balances experimental edge with dancefloor relevance.
Side A opens with “Floating Castles In The Sky”, a track that sets a lofty mood and introduces the EP’s blend of breakbeats and house-derived grooves. It leads into “Celestial Winds”, which deepens the atmospheric texture while maintaining the kinetic drive established on the opener. The side reaches its apex with the title track “Nebulae”, a space-filled composition that heightens intensity and serves as the focal point of the A-side narrative, embodying the EP’s raw yet warm character.
Flipping to Side B, “Into Orbit” sustains the momentum, offering a rhythmic propulsion that prepares the listener for the final statement. The record closes with “Stardust”, a playful, melodic piece that gently eases the journey to a satisfying conclusion, highlighting West’s knack for balancing melodic nuance with the driving force of his techno-house foundation.
Nebulae arrives at a moment when Paul West is consolidating his presence after the well-received Blue Sun (Rocky Hill Records, RHR008, 2025). While that earlier 12-inch explored similar territory, Nebulae refines the blend of breakbeat energy and Detroit-inspired techno, presenting a more cohesive narrative across its five cuts. Within eudemonia’s catalogue, the EP contributes to a lineage of releases that prioritize deep, atmospheric construction without sacrificing club-ready momentum.
For DJs, the EP offers a versatile toolkit: the A-side tracks provide progressive build-up material suitable for early-night sets, while “Nebulae” works as a peak-time centerpiece with its heightened intensity. The B-side delivers a smooth transition into later phases of a set, with “Stardust” offering a melodic release that can close a set or serve as a bridge into more uplifting selections. Collectors will appreciate the EP’s cohesive sequencing and its place within both West’s evolving discography and eudemonia’s curated output.
The record is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, matching the format of West’s previous Blue Sun release and aligning with eudemonia’s tradition of delivering high-quality analog experiences. Its five tracks run a total of just over half an hour, providing ample space for each composition to breathe on the dancefloor and in the listening environment.
