About Release
Nail – Vibe Xebra EP arrives on Midnight Social Recordings as MSR003, an exclusive vinyl offering that delves into minimal house, tech house and dub-inflected grooves. The release follows a string of successful outings from the label’s roster, including work by Tommy Vicari Jnr, Adam Collins and Grant Dell, and marks the third wax installment for Midnight Social.
Midnight Social Recordings has cultivated a reputation for forward-thinking house releases, and Vibe Xebra EP continues that trajectory by welcoming veteran producer NAiL (Neil Tolliday) into its fold. NAiL’s pedigree—rooted in the 1990s DiY collective from Nottingham and the downtempo duo Bent—adds weight to the label’s growing catalogue.
Side A opens with “Dub Up and Dance”, a track that sets a deep, rolling foundation suited to the early-night floor. Its companion, “Dub Up and Dance (AI Bradley's Precinct Rework)”, reinterprets the original’s momentum, offering a slightly altered phrasing that keeps the groove moving while providing a fresh entry point for DJs. On the flip side, “Tell Me Dub” continues the dub-house aesthetic with a hypnotic loop that sustains tension, and “Tell Me Dub (Carlo Gambino's Midnight Re-Rub)” injects Carlo Gambino’s signature touch, extending the track’s dancefloor life through subtle re-shaping of its rhythmic texture.
Within NAiL’s recent output, Vibe Xebra EP sits alongside a series of 12-inch vinyl releases on his own In The Dance imprint—Candlelite EP (ITD005) and Luv Things (ITD004) from 2026—as well as earlier statements on other independent labels such as MYSTICISMS (Cassiopeia, MYS008, 2025) and Skylax Records (More Time, LAX12INCH103, 2025). Those records have consistently explored the intersection of minimalistic rhythms and melodic depth, a thread that is evident here in the EP’s restrained yet compelling arrangements.
For DJs, the record offers two distinct pairings that can be mixed back-to-back or used separately to shape a set’s dynamics. The original “Dub Up and Dance” works as a solid groove starter, while its Precinct Rework provides a smoother transition into deeper moments. On the B-side, “Tell Me Dub” supplies a steady, dub-laden backdrop ideal for late-night peaks, and Gambino’s re-rub adds a nuanced variation that can re-ignite momentum without breaking flow. Collectors will appreciate the exclusive vinyl format, which preserves the tactile experience of NAiL’s house aesthetic.
The release is pressed as an exclusive 12-inch vinyl, aligning with the label’s focus on analogue presentation. No additional formats are noted, reinforcing its position as a dedicated vinyl-only statement.
