G303 (EKMAN, NASTY BOXES) — Dogs Rule Outer Space

G303 (Ekman, Nasty Boxes) – Dogs Rule Outer Space opens the Zodiak Commune Records Limited Series 001 on 12-inch vinyl, catalogue ZC-ELEC021. Issued 13 November 2026, the EP delivers six tracks of raw acid electro that sit squarely in the label’s underground aesthetic. Within Zodiak Commune’s recent output, Dogs Rule Outer Space follows a string of electro-focused releases. Earlier this year the label issued The Electro Guilde VII (ZC-ELEC020) and The Electro Guilde III (ZC-ELEC011), as well as the Acid Kickers Vol.2 compilation (ZC044LTD). The new EP therefore continues a momentum of acid-laden material that has defined the label’s 2026 catalogue. Side A begins with “Laika”, a title that conjures the historic space-bound canine and sets a stark, high-energy tone. The track’s relentless rhythm propels the listener forward, making it a strong opener for a set that needs immediate impact. The Ekman Mix of “Laika” follows, preserving the original’s intensity while introducing a slightly altered structure that keeps the momentum alive without losing the track’s core aggression. Closing side A, the title track “Dogs Rule Outer Space” expands the narrative, offering a darker, more expansive soundscape that bridges the two “Laika” cuts and prepares the listener for the B-side. Side B opens with “Inplants”, a track that maintains the EP’s uncompromising edge, its tight groove suited for late-night transitions. The Nasty Boxes Remix of “Inplants” reinterprets the original’s drive, injecting a fresh perspective that keeps the energy circulating on the dancefloor. The record concludes with “Faceplanter”, a final statement that caps the EP’s raw aesthetic with a succinct, punchy finish, leaving space for the next track in a DJ’s set. Although G303 (Ekman, Nasty Boxes) does not appear elsewhere in the supplied discography, the collaboration of Ekman and Nasty Boxes on the remixes underscores the label’s practice of cross-pollinating its roster. The EP sits comfortably alongside Zodiak Commune’s earlier electro compilations and the “Into The Den” EP by Ekman (ZC-ELEC019LTD), reinforcing a shared sonic vocabulary of acid-driven, underground electronic music. For DJs, the record offers immediate utility: the opening “Laika” works as a high-octane intro, the Ekman Mix provides a subtle shift for seamless blending, and the title track supplies a darker mood for peak-time moments. The B-side delivers two versatile remixes that can be layered into longer builds, while “Faceplanter” serves as a concise, closing figure that can either end a set or act as a cue for a transition. Collectors will appreciate the EP’s placement within the Limited Series, marking a distinct entry point in Zodiak Commune’s 2026 narrative. The release arrives as a 12-inch vinyl, presented in the label’s Limited Series 001 format. Its physical presentation aligns with the label’s emphasis on tangible, analog experiences for both DJs and vinyl enthusiasts.
