About Release
Filmmaker – Slammer Weapons EP
The Colombian dark-electronic producer Filmmaker returns with Slammer Weapons EP on BRUTO Industries, catalogue BRT014, a 12-inch vinyl that navigates industrial, electro, pop techno and new-wave techno terrain. Arriving in late October 2026, the record continues the label’s focus on kinetic, mood-laden techno, following the earlier Raquitismo EP (BRT010) by Alf and Dan Böhler.
Side A opens with “Swordmaster,” a combative track built on a syncopated rhythm that lands with a powerful punch, setting a confrontational tone for the EP. The momentum shifts into “Power Overturn,” where oppressive tension and a binary rhythm are driven by dense synth lines, deepening the industrial atmosphere. The side closes with “Leveling,” a downtempo piece that introduces acid-style arpeggios, moving from an initial lightness into a richly layered soundscape.
Side B begins with “Restoration Quest,” a relentless burst of energy that sustains an unrelenting break, keeping the set’s intensity high. “Knighthood” follows, offering a richer texture as the percussion merges with highly intense melodic sequences, providing a contrast to the preceding track while maintaining the EP’s dark edge. The record concludes with Dob41’s remix of “Swordmaster.” After an expansive introduction, the reinterpretation transforms the original into an extremely powerful version, rounding off the release with heightened intensity.
Filmmaker’s recent output includes the double-LP Hollywood Cult (VEYL040, 2025) and earlier 12-inch outings DDS08 (Dalmata Daniel, 2023) and MACHINATIONS LP (Wave Tension Records, 2023). Slammer Weapons EP builds on that catalogue, reaffirming the artist’s command of dark, rhythm-centric techno while exploring new melodic and textural territories within the BRUTO Industries roster.
For DJs, the EP offers a versatile toolkit: “Swordmaster” and its Dob41 remix deliver high-impact peaks suitable for peak-time moments, while “Power Overturn” and “Restoration Quest” provide tension-building bridges for longer builds. “Leveling” supplies a slower, more introspective closing, ideal for winding down a set or for late-night transitions. Collectors will appreciate the cohesive production handled by Dan Böhler and the visual identity crafted by Lucas Salinas, which together reinforce the release’s industrial-electro aesthetic.
The record is pressed on 12-inch vinyl, presenting the six tracks in their intended sequencing across both sides, preserving the EP’s dynamic flow for both turntable playback and archival purposes.
