ELISE MASSONI — Holding On

Elise Massoni – Holding On opens the L0N3R 03R002 12-inch vinyl with a concise four-track EP that continues the label’s focus on forward-thinking techno. The release arrives on 20 November 2026 and, like its predecessor, arrives in a printed sleeve that underscores the imprint’s aesthetic of stark, tactile presentation. Holding On is notable for its thematic cohesion: each piece feels like a search for illumination through subtle fissures in the rhythm, a concept hinted at in the label’s own description. Within L0N3R’s short but purposeful catalogue, Holding On follows the earlier EP Reference Point (03R001, 2026), also by Massoni. The two releases bookend a productive period for the imprint, showing a clear continuity in the artist’s exploration of light and shadow on the dancefloor while expanding the label’s sonic palette beyond its initial statement. A1 “Holding On” introduces the set with a measured pulse that immediately establishes a mood of anticipation; the title suggests a grip on something fragile, and the track’s structure builds tension that resolves just enough to keep the listener engaged. A2 “Same Light” picks up the momentum, offering a slightly brighter tonal shift that feels like a continuation of the first track’s search, providing DJs with a seamless transition that maintains the EP’s narrative thread. B1 “2029” steps into a more forward-looking atmosphere, its title evoking a distant horizon; the groove here is slightly more expansive, giving space for a late-night set to breathe before moving deeper. B2 “Until Brighter Days” closes the record on a hopeful note, its title promising resolution, and the track’s pacing offers a gentle wind-down that can serve as a perfect outro or a bridge into more uplifting moments. For Massoni, Holding On reinforces the trajectory set by Reference Point, showing an evolution in her approach to techno’s emotional range while staying rooted in the label’s minimalist aesthetic. The EP contributes to L0N3R’s growing reputation for delivering concise, concept-driven releases that speak to both the club and the collector. From a DJ’s perspective, the record’s four tracks are deliberately arranged to facilitate fluid mixing: the first two cuts on side A share a rhythmic kinship that encourages back-to-back play, while the B-side offers a subtle shift in mood that can be used to pivot a set toward more introspective or forward-driving moments. Collectors will appreciate the printed sleeve and the cohesive visual identity that ties the EP to its label’s design language. The release is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, presented in a printed sleeve that reflects the label’s understated visual approach.
