About Release
Dwarde – Energy Exchange EP marks the debut of the London-based producer on Up Ya Archives (catalogue UYA014), a 12-inch vinyl that bridges the raw vigor of ’94-style hardcore with the kinetic pulse of contemporary jungle. The record arrives on 6 November 2026, offering four tracks that showcase Dwarde’s dual allegiance to old-school breakbeat energy and the brighter, vocal-driven side of hardcore.
Within the Up Ya Archives roster, Energy Exchange follows a string of releases that have cemented the label’s reputation for forward-thinking breakbeat and jungle. Earlier this year the label put out Sempra’s “Wicked N Ruff” (UYA011), Nectax’s “Newcastle Juke Party EP” (UYA010) and Conducta’s “Soundboy Johnny EP” (UYA009), each reinforcing the label’s focus on high-octane, sample-rich tracks. Dwarde’s entry continues that trajectory, adding a personal take on the label’s signature sound.
Side A opens with “Show Me”, the lead single that the label describes as a torch-bearer for ’94-style hardcore while comfortably sitting alongside the new-gen jungle spirit Up Ya Archives has become known for. Its driving rhythm and commanding vocal hook make it a natural bridge between the two scenes, ideal for building momentum in a set. The second cut, “Energy Exchange”, maintains the same kinetic thrust but leans into a slightly more melodic groove, offering DJs a versatile peak-time tool that can transition from jungle-heavy moments to brighter, rave-inflected passages.
On side B the mood shifts subtly. “Candlelight” returns to the darker, jungle-rooted aesthetic, its rolling break and atmospheric texture providing a deep-cut option for late-night sets. The record closes with “The Feeling”, a track that embraces the happier hardcore end of the spectrum, featuring a prominent vocal line that lifts the energy and invites crowd sing-alongs, perfect for closing a set on a euphoric note.
Dwarde’s recent output includes the “Don’t U Know EP” (Remix Records, REC40, 2025) and “Tall Tales EP” (Remix Records, REC36, 2024), both 12-inch vinyl releases that explored similar terrain of breakbeat-driven jungle and rave influences. Energy Exchange therefore represents a continuation of his work with a fresh label partnership, aligning his established sound with Up Ya Archives’ curatorial direction.
In the context of contemporary underground electronic music, the EP stands as a concise statement of how classic hardcore’s rawness can be reframed through modern jungle production techniques. The juxtaposition of two jungle cuts with two vocal-centric hardcore tracks underscores the fluidity between the genres and highlights the ongoing revival of breakbeat-driven dance music.
For DJs, the record offers clear utility: “Show Me” and “The Feeling” deliver vocal hooks that can be used to lift a dancefloor, while “Energy Exchange” and “Candlelight” provide deeper, rhythm-focused moments suitable for mixing into longer, hypnotic sections. Collectors will appreciate the four-track format that captures a snapshot of Dwarde’s evolving style and the label’s commitment to high-energy, sample-rich releases.
The release is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, matching the format of Dwarde’s earlier EPs and the label’s recent output. Its straightforward presentation focuses on the music rather than ancillary packaging.
