About Release
Dött ljus – Sjunka EP arrives on FAUXPAS MUSIK as catalogue FAUXPAS039, a 12-inch vinyl that continues the duo’s exploration of immersive, rhythm-driven techno. Recorded in the catacombs of Södermalm, the EP channels themes of movement, chaos and hope, inviting listeners to surrender control and let the music sink.
Within the Fauxpas Musik roster, Sjunka EP follows a line of releases that have shaped the label’s forward-looking aesthetic. Earlier outings include Convolute’s “Where do we go” (FAUXPAS038, 2025), The Angel Code’s “Dorcas EP” (FAUXPAS034, 2025) and Max Lessig’s “Halo EP” (FAUXPAS033, 2025), as well as St. Andrew’s “No Rain, No Flowers EP” (FAUXPAS036, 2024). The lineage traces back to Cologne’s “SOPHIA” (FAUXPAS030, 2019) and Irrelevant’s “Vague Memories 2” (FAUXPAS025, 2018), situating Dött ljus’s new work among a series of forward-thinking techno statements.
Side A opens with “Rana”, a track whose title conjures a fleeting pulse that sets a kinetic tone for the side. It leads directly into “Kvitter”, a second cut that deepens the momentum while maintaining the EP’s flickering soundscape. On the flip, “Älven” introduces a slightly more spacious atmosphere, offering a contrast that prepares the listener for the descending arc of “Sjunker”. The final piece, “Hejdå”, provides a closing gesture that feels like a quiet farewell, echoing the EP’s overarching motif of letting go.
Sjunka EP occupies a distinct place in Dött ljus’s output, arriving as the follow-up to the acclaimed debut “Bottna”. While “Bottna” garnered attention from outlets such as the BBC, KEXP and Headphone Commute, the new EP expands the duo’s palette by emphasizing fluid movement and a sense of hopeful release. Within the broader Fauxpas catalogue, the record reinforces the label’s commitment to techno that balances intensity with introspection.
For DJs, the record offers a suite of tracks that can be threaded through a set to modulate energy. “Rana” and “Kvitter” work well as opening or peak-time statements, their driving rhythms suited to building momentum. “Älven” and “Sjunker” provide a more contemplative middle ground, ideal for transitional moments, while “Hejdå” serves as a thoughtful closing or a bridge into a more melodic segment. Collectors will appreciate the coloured vinyl pressing, which adds a tactile dimension to the release’s visual identity.
The release is presented as a 12-inch vinyl, issued in a strictly limited run on coloured vinyl, reflecting the physical aesthetic that complements its sonic intent.
