DIMIA — Em-01

Dimia – EM-01 opens the Uzvar release UZVAR008 as a 12-inch exclusive vinyl that targets the dancefloor and the crate-digging collector. After a period of digital output, the label returns to the format it champions, and Dimia, a Dubai-based producer with eight years of London experience, supplies a set of minimal house cuts that echo her evolution from Romanian-inspired minimal to a more expansive house palette. Although there are no other releases listed for Uzvar, the label’s commitment to vinyl-only output frames this EP as a continuation of its analog-focused ethos. Dimia’s previous debut on the same imprint in 2025 established a rapport that this new material deepens, now accompanied by a remix that widens the record’s club potential. Side A begins with “Ego Market”, a track whose title hints at a transactional rhythm that anchors the set with a steady groove, inviting DJs to layer it beneath longer mixes. “Memory Currency” follows, offering a reflective shift that maintains the minimal house pulse while providing a subtle change in atmosphere, acting as a bridge to the more assertive “Under Your Control, Mr A”. The latter closes the side with a tighter, more driving feel, suggesting a moment of heightened focus on the dancefloor. Side B opens with “Emotional Substance”, a composition that leans into the emotive side of minimal house, delivering a warm undercurrent suitable for late-night moments. “Second Self” continues the introspective thread, presenting a slightly more stripped-back arrangement that can serve as a clean transition point for DJs moving between deeper and more kinetic sections of a set. The side concludes with “Ego Market (Kirill Kirik Remix)”, where Kirik reinterprets the opening track, adding a fresh dimension that re-contextualises the original motif for a different energy level, making it a versatile tool for peak-time moments or for re-invigorating a set’s momentum. Within Dimia’s brief discography, EM-01 marks a continuation of her exploration of minimal and house structures, building on the foundations laid in her 2025 debut on Uzvar. The inclusion of a remix by Kirill Kirik, an artist known for nuanced re-workings, underscores the release’s intent to serve both the home listener and the club DJ, offering multiple entry points for varied set constructions. From a DJ’s perspective, the record delivers a cohesive yet varied suite of tracks that can be deployed across different phases of a set. The A-side provides a solid, groove-centric progression ideal for building momentum, while the B-side supplies moodier, more reflective pieces that can be used to modulate energy before the remix injects renewed drive. The vinyl format ensures a tactile experience and the ability to cue and manipulate the tracks with the precision that many vinyl-oriented DJs value. The physical format is presented as an exclusive 12-inch vinyl, aligning with the label’s emphasis on analog releases. Its straightforward packaging underscores the focus on sound rather than embellishment, appealing to collectors who prioritise musical content and the ritual of vinyl playback.
