About Release

Costas returns with It’s Me Again EP, the third release on his own Costas Music imprint, issued as COSTAS003 in April 2026. The five-track 12-inch brings together Costas’s original productions with remixes from Barcelona producer Baldo and UK underground house artist Youandewan, creating a record that moves fluidly between deep house, tech house, acid-tinged grooves and more hypnotic club music. Built around rolling 1990s-influenced drums, grooving basslines, restrained acid touches and atmospheric pads, the EP has a distinctly underground character while remaining firmly focused on the modern dancefloor. The release is particularly notable within the Costas Music catalogue because it is the label’s third release, arriving after a period of silence. Costas, based in Donostia-San Sebastián, established the label in 2020, initially through a release connected to Dana Ruh’s KMA60 in Berlin. His own productions have developed around deep house, house, tech house and adjacent forms of underground electronic music, with an emphasis on groove and atmosphere rather than rigid genre boundaries. It’s Me Again EP continues that approach while expanding the label’s sound through two carefully selected remixes. The A-side begins with the title track, “It’s Me Again”, a 6:40 original that establishes the EP’s musical vocabulary immediately. Rolling drums provide the rhythmic foundation while a grooving bassline gives the track its physical weight. Subtle acid touches add movement without overwhelming the arrangement, and atmospheric pads become particularly effective around the breakdown sections. The result is a track that feels rooted in the rhythmic language of 1990s house while avoiding the impression of a straightforward retro exercise. Its energy comes from the interaction between the drums, bass and slowly evolving electronic details, making it a natural opening track for a deep or tech house set. Baldo’s A2 remix takes “It’s Me Again” in a more forceful direction. The Barcelona producer reshapes the original into a considerably more peak-time-oriented club interpretation, retaining the fundamental identity of the track while increasing its impact on the dancefloor. Where Costas’s original establishes a rolling and atmospheric groove, Baldo’s version emphasizes propulsion and physical energy. The remix therefore works as more than an alternate version: it provides a second function for the same musical idea, giving DJs the option of moving from a deeper interpretation into a more driving section of a set. The B-side changes the atmosphere with “Waterphone”, a 6:10 Costas original. Here the EP moves further into hypnotic territory, with evolving textures and stripped-back grooves becoming the dominant elements. The track demonstrates Costas’s ability to create tension through gradual development rather than dramatic structural changes. Its spacious character gives the rhythm room to breathe, while the evolving electronic details create a more immersive atmosphere than the comparatively direct A-side. “Waterphone” is particularly effective in the context of the complete EP because it creates a natural transition from the dancefloor pressure of Baldo’s remix into the deeper territory of the second half. The groove remains central, but the production feels less concerned with immediate impact and more interested in hypnotic repetition and subtle changes in texture. This makes the original particularly suitable for late-night sets, where a DJ can allow the track’s atmosphere to develop gradually. Youandewan’s remix of “Waterphone” occupies the B2 position and brings another distinctive rhythmic interpretation to the record. The UK producer is known for a deep, groove-focused approach, and his version injects “Waterphone” with a trippy swing and deeper rhythmic flow. Rather than simply increasing the energy of the original, the remix changes its movement, giving the track a looser and more intricate sense of rhythm while preserving the hypnotic character of Costas’s composition. The closing track, “Drako (Ambient Mix)”, is deliberately different from the four club-oriented cuts that precede it. At 2:45, it functions as a short atmospheric coda, moving away from the established dancefloor framework and toward cinematic soundscapes and immersive ambience. It gives the record an unusually reflective conclusion, suggesting that the EP is intended to be experienced not only as a collection of DJ tools but also as a complete musical sequence. The five-track structure is one of the strengths of COSTAS003. Instead of presenting four similar club tracks, Costas uses the EP to explore several related functions: the original “It’s Me Again” establishes the core sound; Baldo provides a stronger peak-time interpretation; “Waterphone” moves into deeper and more hypnotic territory; Youandewan introduces a different rhythmic perspective; and “Drako (Ambient Mix)” closes the record in cinematic fashion. The sequence therefore has a clear narrative without losing its usefulness to DJs. For DJs, It’s Me Again EP offers considerable flexibility. The original title track is well suited to deep and rolling house sets, while Baldo’s remix can be used when greater dancefloor pressure is required. “Waterphone” and the Youandewan remix provide more hypnotic options for late-night programming, and the ambient version of “Drako” can work as an intro, outro or transitional piece outside the conventional four-to-the-floor structure. The combination makes COSTAS003 useful across different stages of an extended house or tech house set. The record also reflects the musical geography surrounding Costas Music. Costas is based in Donostia-San Sebastián, while Baldo represents Barcelona’s contemporary underground house scene and Youandewan brings a distinctly UK perspective. Their involvement gives the EP an international character without making it feel stylistically fragmented. All three producers share an interest in deep, groove-led club music, allowing the different interpretations to remain connected to the same musical centre. For collectors, COSTAS003 is the original 2026 12-inch edition of the EP, released by Costas Music in April 2026. Specialist retailers consistently identify the format as 12-inch vinyl, catalogue number COSTAS003, with the same five-track sequence. Costas’s own Bandcamp identifies 10 April 2026 as the release date, while other retailers list dates between 4 and 14 April, so April 2026 is the most reliable way to identify the release without overstating a disputed retail date. It’s Me Again EP is ultimately a confident third statement from Costas Music. Costas’s originals provide the foundation, while Baldo and Youandewan reinterpret that material from two different angles, creating a record that can move from rolling 90s-inspired house and subtle acid grooves to peak-time pressure, hypnotic late-night rhythms and cinematic ambience. COSTAS003 is a carefully constructed underground 12-inch with enough variation to reward repeated listening and enough functional depth to earn a permanent place in a DJ’s record bag.
