ARTICULAT — Harap-alb: The Reworks LP

Articulat – HARAP-ALB: THE REWORKS LP arrives on Articulat Music as catalogue ART-002, a 12-inch vinyl that extends the narrative of the artist’s debut LP. The original Harap-Alb, released in 2025, told a modern retelling of a timeless tale; this companion record gathers eight fellow producers to reinterpret each piece, turning the work into a collaborative dialogue while keeping the electro-experimental core intact. Within the Articulat Music catalogue, the reworks sit directly after the debut HARAP-ALB LP (ART001, 2025). The label’s modest output therefore frames this release as a continuation rather than a departure, offering listeners a fresh perspective on the same thematic material. By inviting a diverse set of contributors, Articulat expands the label’s aesthetic, moving from a singular vision to a curated conversation. Side A opens with “Sfat înainte (Dany E Remix)”, a reimagining that shifts the original’s mood while preserving its melodic contour. The remix is followed by “Dus De Vânt (Niet Zo Vierkant Remix)”, which juxtaposes the previous track’s atmosphere with a more kinetic energy, creating a subtle rise in momentum. “Roșu și Verde (Panda Lassow Remix)” continues this ascent, introducing a dreamy texture that bridges the A-side’s evolving palette. The side closes with “Cântece împărătești (Danaga Remix)”, a track that leans into nostalgic strings, offering a reflective pause before the record flips. Side B begins with “Tovarăși De Drum (H2Opt Remix)”, a cut that injects a hypnotic pulse, setting a darker tone that contrasts with the A-side’s brighter moments. “Poruncă (Tolouse Low Trax Remix)” follows, delivering a broken-rhythm approach that keeps the groove unsettled yet danceable. “Călător (A-Tweed Remix)” then expands the journey with an experimental edge, reinforcing the record’s exploratory spirit. The record concludes with “Nuntă De Poveste (Articulat Remix)”, where the original creator revisits the material, tying the collaborative thread back to the source and delivering a straight-up dancefloor finish. For Articulat, this LP marks a second entry in the label’s discography, following the 2025 HARAP-ALB LP. The reworks demonstrate the artist’s willingness to open the compositional space to peers, highlighting a collaborative ethos that resonates within the contemporary electro-experimental scene. The surrounding releases on Articulat Music share this forward-looking approach, emphasizing reinterpretation and community. From a DJ’s perspective, the record offers a versatile toolkit. The A-side provides melodic, dreamy cuts suitable for early-set ambience or transitional moments, while the B-side supplies darker, more rhythm-focused pieces that can drive a peak-time set. The varied tempos and textures across the eight remixes allow for seamless blending, making the LP a valuable addition for those who curate narrative-driven sets or who seek fresh takes on a known source material. The release is pressed as a 12-inch vinyl, matching the format of its predecessor and preserving the tactile experience of the original album. The physical format supports the intended listening ritual, inviting collectors to experience the reworks as a cohesive whole.
