About Release
Annie Bloch – luvt OOH048, a 12-inch vinyl released on OOH-sounds, arrives as a quiet reorientation of the organ, shifting its monumental image toward the delicate mechanics of touch, air and friction. The Cologne-based organist and composer presents seven compositions that explore the chest organ’s intimate potential, situating the record at the intersection of drone, beats techno and ambient techno.
Within OOH-sounds’ recent output, luvt follows Xdcvr’s “I HATE THAT SHIT, I HATE ALL THAT SHIT (Tape)” OOH047 and Riccardo La Foresta’s “ZERO,999…” OOH042, both issued earlier in 2026, while Jasmine Guffond’s “Alien Intelligence” OOH040 from 2024 remains a prior entry in the label’s catalogue. Bloch’s debut on the imprint adds a contemplative, organ-centric voice to the label’s otherwise rhythm-driven aesthetic.
Side A opens with “close-hauled”, a composition that sets a meditative tone, inviting the listener into the subtle resonance of the chest organ’s three wooden-pipe stops. “Wels” continues this thread, maintaining the atmospheric focus while gently shifting the harmonic centre, and “Gleitflug” offers a slightly more expansive sweep, still rooted in the same tactile sound world. The fourth track, “Papership”, deepens the immersion, allowing the organ’s breath-like qualities to surface, before “afloat” eases the momentum into a softer, floating ambience. “Im Nebel” introduces a faint veil of mist-like texture, and the record closes with “away (to you)”, a final, intimate gesture that encapsulates the album’s overall sense of turning toward wind and air.
Bloch’s approach on luvt draws from modern composition, new psychedelia, ambient and minimalist traditions, with occasional traces of avant-pop sensibility, yet always keeps the chest organ’s unique physical character at the core. The seven pieces function as a cohesive meditation, each track flowing into the next, creating a continuous landscape suitable for late-night sets where a DJ wishes to guide the floor into a more introspective space. The record’s pacing and subtle shifts also make it a compelling listening experience for collectors seeking a nuanced, instrument-focused work.
From a DJ’s perspective, the record offers a palette of textures that can be layered under deeper techno rhythms or used as a standalone ambient interlude. The understated groove of “close-hauled” and “Wels” provides a subtle backdrop for mixing, while “Papership” and “Im Nebel” afford moments of tension and release that can be exploited for dynamic transitions. The final track, “away (to you)”, with its lingering resonance, works well as a closing or a bridge into more melodic territory.
The 12-inch vinyl format captures the organic nuances of the chest organ, preserving the tactile interplay of key and pipe that defines Bloch’s sound. The analog medium reinforces the record’s emphasis on physicality and breath, aligning the listening experience with the instrument’s inherent mechanics.
