ACID KINGS, MATSA — Keys Of Life Mixes

Acid Kings & Matsa – Keys Of Life Mixes The new 12-inch from Keys of Life (catalogue LIFE12IN1112) arrives as a 2026 repress, pairing two warm-sounding acid mixes that showcase the label’s penchant for melodic, dance-floor ready electronica. Produced by Jori Hulkkonen, the record offers a concise yet potent glimpse into the label’s aesthetic, blending classic acid timbres with contemporary groove. While the label’s broader catalogue remains unreferenced here, this release continues the tradition of Keys of Life delivering expertly crafted, remix-focused outings that sit comfortably within the dance and electronica spectrum. Side A opens with “A1 1: 2-3 Acid (Jori Hulkkonen Keys of Life Remix)” by Acid Kings. The mix leans into a warm acid palette, delivering a hypnotic loop that builds tension without overwhelming the listener, making it suitable for early-set layering or a subtle transition. Its tonal richness invites DJs to weave it into deeper, more atmospheric moments. Flipping to Side B, “Liberation Sugar (Jori Hulkkonen Keys of Life Remix)” by Matsa maintains the warm acid character while introducing a slightly brighter groove. The track’s flow complements the A-side, offering a complementary mood that can serve as a peak-time lift or a bridge between more minimal selections. Within the modest output of both Acid Kings and Matsa, this joint release stands out as a focused collaboration that highlights Jori Hulkkonen’s remixing sensibility—balancing nostalgia for classic acid with a polished, modern sheen. It reinforces the label’s reputation for curating quality over quantity in the current underground scene. For DJs, the record provides two versatile tools: the A-side’s deeper, looping texture works well for building tension in the back-of-the-room, while the B-side’s brighter drive can energise a late-night set. Collectors will appreciate the cohesive sonic thread that runs through both mixes, making the 12-inch a handy addition to any acid-oriented crate. The release is pressed on standard 12-inch vinyl, reflecting the label’s straightforward approach to format without additional embellishments.
